Hello,
Sasha’s phone is ringing.
She signals for me to listen in.
“Hello, it’s the Mental Health team here. I can see it has taken a bit of time for us to get to you… Oh and I see the referral came through to us just over two years ago.”
There’s a slight pause and she continues…
“Do you still require our service?”
Sasha looks a little bewildered and says “Yeah, I’m f#cking broken”.
Two years it has taken.
Her brilliant probation officer, pushing, phoning, emailing, and complaining to the Mental Health team.
Two years!
When we started ten years ago, we thought a two-month wait was outrageous.
Two years of being unwell and waiting.
This is happening all the time.
