Counselling

As part of their resettlement plan, every trainee at LandWorks has access to one-to-one counselling with Becca, a UKCP Registered psychotherapist and family therapist, clinical supervisor and trainer with a background in third sector organisations and the NHS.

This counselling, delivered on-site, helps trainees to come to terms with a range of issues and assists with building resilience for life after crime and importantly, to build relationships with their families.

Becca has worked with LandWorks for nearly 10 years. Her experiences have only strengthened her belief in people’s capacity for change in spite of the most challenging of circumstances, when they have appropriate, multi-faceted support in place.

“Working with a systemic focus, I therapeutically support the work of the LandWorks team by encouraging trainees to consider their relationship to themselves and to others – in the past, present and future” explains Becca.

“In the work we do, we consider how the quality of key relationships may impact choices and decisions – either helpfully or in detrimental ways.  By developing a healthier relationship with self and others, a secure base is provided from which future choices can be made, creating new positive patterns and responses rather than repeating old behaviours which are no longer helpful.

Alongside this relational work, I support trainees to feel more equipped to manage levels of anxiety, anger and low mood whilst working on ways in which self-esteem and confidence can be further developed.”
