Hello,
We thought you may like a heads-up about something coming…
A few weeks ago, starting as a one to one in the market garden and then with all of us over a tea break, the conversation turned to running – people were sharing stories about improved mental health, fitness, and interesting runs they’d done. The chat ranged from coastal path runs to more adventurous routes (and even across the Kalahari Desert). Over the course of the discussion, an idea started to emerge… a LandWorks running team. Within minutes, a team was being formed, and we suddenly had an exciting plan to involve as many people as possible.
As Steve Wellington, LandWorks site manager says: “Someone mentioned the Plymouth Half Marathon, and before we knew it, Team LandWorks’ was up and running!”
On 17th May, a 14-strong team of trainees, graduates, staff, supporters, and a trustee from LandWorks will all be running the Plymouth Half Marathon to raise funds for LandWorks. A brilliant coming together of the LandWorks ‘community’.
Joining Team LandWorks are trainees Leo and Stan; graduate Patrick; staff members Steve, Daniela, Julia, and Emma; supporters Alison, Lenny, Holly, Meg, Sarah, and David; and Trustee Dr Sarah Wollaston.
Not only are they committing to this 13.1 mile challenge in aid of LandWorks, but thanks to the extraordinary generosity of a supporter, every pound raised will be match-funded – meaning all sponsorship will be doubled (up to £10k)!
You can support Team LandWorks by sponsoring them here – all the money raised will go towards funding LandWorks placements in the future.
Thank you
Chris
PS If you are planning to run the Plymouth Half Marathon yourself, LandWorks is one of the charities listed by the organisers that you can choose to support. Please do let us know if you are!
