Hello,

During our supporters’ event last month, a very pleasant, determined supporter took me to one side and said quite clearly, “Look Chris, there are many of your supporters like me who can afford to donate quite a bit more a month. We want to support LandWorks by increasing our regular donations or start up a new regular donation.”

“Could you give me and your supporters a few examples of what perhaps £50 or £100/month or more could support?”

I promised Alison I would provide some examples…

  • £300/year could supply clothing and boots for 6 trainees
  • £600/year could provide 11 prison release kits (containing basic life essentials)
  • £1,200 could provide 500 lunches

Alison’s last point was forthright and clear, she said “But I need to be given an instruction. We need a clear ask.”

I replied that I would use her sentiments as the ‘ask’ and I would supply the LandWorks donation page details

But there are also other ways to support LandWorks…

  • We are currently trying to find/get hold of spare old tools that we can either use directly at the project or once restored and repaired we can sell them on. This has been a great winter activity at LandWorks (sharp and bladed items would remain at LandWorks). Garden tools that need a bit of TLC are perfect. Electrical and petrol equipment are perhaps too complex.
  • For our new yurt we are trying to get a few large bean bags or big cushions to sit on, if you have any spare let us know.

One other key way to support LandWorks (I know this sounds too easy) is coming for lunch. Eating together and sharing food and chat is at the very heart of what we do here. To keep this thriving, we need visitors to join us for lunch. A moment perhaps to find out more about the charity, people’s lives and chat about your own life… It’s just simple stuff but makes a huge difference and is completely life affirming.

If you can do any of the above that would be wonderful. If you need any further information or help, please reply to us at info@landworks.org.uk
