Hello,
I thought it would be useful to provide a further update on some changes at LandWorks, as well as some upcoming events that we are involved in, which you may wish to support or join.
April 8th: At their meeting this week, Ted Tuppen formally retired as Chair of our Trustees, after serving LandWorks for 10 years. As you can imagine, we have been carefully planning this transition for some time. LandWorks is extremely fortunate to have found an excellent replacement from within our current Board, Sarah Wollaston.
Ted has been with LandWorks from the very beginning and has been instrumental in shaping who we are today. His experience, enthusiasm, and unwavering support have guided us throughout. I know that everyone involved with LandWorks would like to extend their sincere thanks to Ted.
We are delighted to welcome Sarah as our new Chair. Her understanding of social justice, extensive public service experience, and commitment to LandWorks make her ideally placed to lead the Board as we enter the next chapter of our work.
We are also delighted to welcome Mark Yallop as a new trustee on the board. Mark is a highly experienced financial services leader and dedicated supporter of charitable and community organisations, not least LandWorks (see below!).
May 17th: ‘Team LandWorks’ (including our new Chair) will be running in the Plymouth Half Marathon. This is a great team event, but and importantly, it’s an opportunity to raise funds for LandWorks.
Please do support the team if you can, every pound donated will be match-funded (up to £10,000), meaning your sponsorship will be doubled. You can support Team LandWorks here.
We still have two paid for places available for the Plymouth Half-Marathon in May. Please email us if you are interested in joining Team LandWorks and our fundraising campaign!
June 6th and 7th: Mark and Rosemary Yallop have once again kindly offered to host the Sandridge Open Garden event in aid of LandWorks. This is a truly wonderful event, a chance to explore the beautiful Sandridge gardens, enjoy tea and cake alongside one of the most spectacular views of the River Dart, and of course meet the LandWorks team. There will also be an opportunity to purchase LandWorks products.
August 21st: Our Annual Supporters’ Event will take place at LandWorks from 10am to 12 noon. This is always a wonderful opportunity to bring together everyone who supports the charity.
It’s a chance to catch up with the team, trainees, and graduates, have a look around the site, and gain a deeper understanding of what really goes on at LandWorks. There will be speeches, refreshments, products for sale, and raffle prizes to be won. Invites will be sent out nearer the time.
We very much look forward to catching up with you over the summer.
Chris
