Hello,
The first lunch was on the very first day, 12 years ago. There were five of us: three men on day release from prison, one on a community sentence, and me. We sat around a small, wobbly table and chatted while sharing food.
Maybe not that much has changed.
Well, it has.
A supportive, caring community grew out of that simple beginning.
In those early weeks (and beyond), I was hit by a storm of prison life, broken lives, and truly harrowing experiences. I’d drop the guys back at prison, return home, put on a (very) particular piece of music – quite loud – and let the emotion flood out.
It was my way of processing everything. My therapeutic release. I’m not sure I’ve ever told anyone that before.
But I wasn’t on my own. I was lucky. I had my family and a small number of believers who helped get LandWorks started and wanted it to succeed.
So, I began writing to them. The first blog was sent to just 23 people.
That small community (which now includes you) has grown to over 1,200 supporters.
Your support and engagement are crucial to LandWorks’ success. In essence, it has enabled those who have harmed their communities to be given a chance to rejoin them.
So, thank you.
Now, we’d love to grow the community further. Our goal is to double the number of supporters and it would be great if you could help spread the word.
And here’s a small challenge…
Could you get three or more people to sign up as LandWorks supporters?
(They’ll receive the fortnightly blog and occasional updates and invites.)
It’s simple… just forward this link: www.landworks.org.uk/get-involved/become-a-supporter/
As a little incentive and thank you, if you do get three (or more) people to sign up by the end of September, we’ll enter your name into a prize draw to win a beautiful LandWorks bench.
LandWorks is built on trust, so we won’t be doing checks – just email us when you have reached three new supporters and we’ll put your name into the hat…
Thank you again.
Chris
