Hello,
I thought it would be nice to capture some good news, to let you know what’s recently been going on at LandWorks.
Graduate achievements…
Nathan Drury who was at LandWorks in 2016/17 has gone on to set up a construction business, now employing 7 people. He is about to expand his team and is keen to employ a LandWorks Graduate.
Steve Westlake who was at LandWorks in 2021/22 has just secured a job with the NHS as a Peer Support Worker in the Liaison and Diversion team.
Charity Awards 2024…
We have been shortlisted for the Social Care, Advice and Support category. This is really a big achievement for a small charity and facing very strong competition from others in our category. We are now in the last three, with the actual award to be announced at a ceremony at the Lancaster Hotel, London on July the 9th.
A quote from one of the judges… Martin Edwards, CEO of Julia’s House, says: “They are doing everything right. The way they treat people with dignity and respect is so important, and they have a model that works. It seems to me that if you were just out of prison, this is the best place you could land.” You can read more about what the judges have said here.
Health and Well-being…
This important part of our resettlement support has been gathering momentum for some time. I am very pleased to say that May Carnell is about to join the team to deliver and continue to develop our Health and Well-being support.
Alongside this we are keen to establish a more physical symbol of Health and Well-being and our planned yurt will provide an excellent new centre for this work.
And to enable us to buy the yurt, as many of you already know, Lilly (my daughter) and her friend Chris are running a sponsored half marathon in Exeter this Sunday.
A huge thank you again to those who have already sponsored the run, it’s not too late to support them and LandWorks, just click here.
