guitar 6 1024x669 - Prisoner Training & Placements

Hello,

There are moments, glorious moments…

A text comes in at 10.16 am… How’s things with LandWorks mate? Just checking in; been sober for a long time now. I’m feeling so happy and grateful mate. Would love at some point to come visit you. You would be happy to see me in such a good place as I know you genuinely care. Hope everything is good and everyone is well miss LandWorks it’s an amazing place .

Sid started here in January 2014. Over the years we never lost touch.

He did reoffend.

He was released from prison, moved in next door to Julie and me, for months.

Then he went to rehab, then back to jail.

Quite a few times.

We never lost touch.

It is such a journey you can’t really describe it fully.

I’ve listened whilst he described a wretched upbringing.

We’ve cried together, laughed together, and understood each other.

He’s disappeared, often, and I’ve wondered if he’s dead.

Then letters from prison.

My last reply was returned in 2019 after 3 months. He’d been released two days before it arrived.

We used to sing (badly) Wish you were here. Pink Floyd.

I’ve never spoken about Sid because statistically he was a failure for LandWorks.

He’d reoffended.

But he sees me as a friend.

And I am fortunate to be his.

We never lost touch.

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from hell?
Blue skies from pain?
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

Chris
